Santiago Morales

Founding Partner

Santiago co-founded Becquerel Capital in 2013 after six years in energy consulting and renewable energy asset management, based in Paris and in London, latterly at Temporis Capital.

At Becquerel, Santiago has most recently focused on the structuring and management of Kiwapower, in close coordination with Marubeni and Becquerel teams, where he participates as co-director and board member. Previously, he co-developed and advised on several utility-scale power projects, mostly solar PV in Mexico.

Santiago studied Chemical Engineering at Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City), where he has been a professor on sustainable energy, and has a master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Futures from Imperial College London. He is a board member of Asolmex.

Harry Beamish

Founding Partner

Harry started in Sustainable Investment in 2008, working in the European Emissions Trading Scheme. He subsequently joined Temporis Capital, and then founded Becquerel Capital in 2013. Harry has developed, advised and structured multiple Gigawatts of renewable energy transactions across Hydro, Solar, Wind, and Energy Efficiency.

Most recently, Harry has been advising companies within the Energy Transition space; ET Minerals, BESS, Carbon Capture and Reuse (CCUS), Fuel Substitution and Green Hydrogen. Harry holds a BA Hons in Modern History and a Masters in International Business from ESCP. 

Fernando de Haro

Partner

Fernando began his career in finance working at UBS as an analyst for Latin American Co´s. He then ventured into the hotel industry working at Grupo Posadas both in operations and in the development of hotels and brands. He then went to Spain as director of communication and marketing at Kiehl’s, a brand of Grupo L’Óreal.

After his MBA, Fernando opted to be an entrepreneur creating three companies: i) The Pool co-working/incubator, focused on the development of entrepreneurs and startups; ii) Simpati Mobile, mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) focused on remote rural communities; iii) Marva by H&H, a chain of boutique hostels focused on millennials and digital nomads who seek to get closer to culture in Latam. Currently with Becquerel Capital, he works as an advisor for new energy related developments and sustainable community projects. 

Also, Co-founded BLAA (Blue Lemon Art Agency), virtual art gallery and consultancy agency for the private initiative to promote innovative ways of disseminating contemporary art.

Fernando holds an MBA from IE and a BA in Industrial Engineer.

Óscar Macías

Partner, Structuring

Oscar started working for the Mexican Government in 2006 at the Federal Mortgage Society (SHF) where he valuated national mortgage-backed securities.

He worked for the Administration and Transfer Service (SAE) where he helped to liquidate bankrupt companies. He was also Deputy Director of Information in the Comptroller General’s Office of the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE).

In 2012 and 2013 served as Director of Financial Programming at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), in charge of the valuation and financial programming infrastructure projects driven by sovereign wealth funds, such as the National Infrastructure Fund (FONADIN).

Since 2014 he is part of Becquerel Capital, where he leads the financial evaluation of clean energy projects.

Oscar holds a degree in Actuarial Science from ITAM.

Alejandro de la Mora

Analyst

Alejandro de la Mora works as an analyst since 2021, focusing on the technical and financial optimization of off-grid energy systems.

Graduated with honors from the degree of Chemical Engineering in Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México, Alejandro explored the energy sector during his studies, especially topics such as energy sustainability and renewable technologies.

Alejandro believes that oncoming technological advances will be the key to developing a more robust, decentralized, and sustainable energy matrix in Mexico. He is passionate about football and tennis, which he practices in his spare time.

Ximo Vicent

Partner, Advisory

Mr Vicent has in excess of 25 years’ experience in banking, financial structuring and risk management. 

During Ximo’s career, he ran UBS European Securitisation business and Citigroup’s ABS and mortgage bond trading business. He also founded Medirect, a bank which grew to systematically important and directly supervised by the ECB.

Ximo has been involved in several marquee transactions, such as:

  • Grand Harbour CLO program currently managed by Fidelity
  • La Caixa Mortgage securitisation program
  • Banca Popolare di Bergamo mortgage securitisation program
  • Iberia airbus leverage leasing
  • Southern Water whole business securitisation

 

He is currently board member in Amplifi Capital – one of UK fastest growing Fintech in the Credit Union space .

Israel Muciño

Regulation, Mexico

Israel Muciño Jara has a degree in Economics with honors, and a Master’s in Economics from UNAM.

He has seven years’ experience in the energy sector, particularly in electricity, having worked at the Transmission Direction of the Ministry of Energy, where he helped develop the expansion plans for generation and transmission (PRODESEN 2015 to 2017) and as Deputy Director of Economic Analysis at the Mexican energy regulator (CRE), where he contributed to the development and implementation of the electricity tariff methodology currently applied by CFE.

Israel currently focuses at Becquerel on Mexican electricity regulation and project/market economic analysis.

Israel previously served as Director of Chemical Industries at the Ministry of Economy and as a consultant evaluating science and technology programs.

Manuel Garay

Partner, Advisory

Mechatronics Engineer with Master’s Degree in Engineering Management with more than 12 years in the energy sector as developer and advisor. As a technical expert and project manager for natural gas pipelines has developed infrastructure projects on over 1 BCF capacity.

M&A experience selling energy infrastructure companies. Advisor to government energy entities in Latin America in the development of new infrastructure projects that are currently in operation, whose investments add up to 15 BUSD sponsored by the private sector.

Diana Chávez

Office Manager

With a degree in Business Administrator from the Technological Institute of Morelia (ITM), Diana has 11 years of experience in companies’ administrative departments. She works in areas of planning, execution, and coordination of business operative requirements.

Diana is the Office Manager at Becquerel, focused the company operations, including account management, attention to suppliers and customers, contract compliance and collections; she is in charge of Becquerel’s orderly growth, linking the company team and ensuring its proper coordination and functioning.

Lucas Pesqueira

Analyst

Lucas is graduating from Chemical Engineering at Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City. He has participated in designing and optimizing capacities for off-grid developments involving PV systems, desalination plants, diesel, and battery storage; as well as in projects involving organic poultry waste and carbon offset mechanisms.

He is currently involved in advising a technologist with aims to decarbonize heavy industry globally.

Lucas completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and was awarded an academic excellence scholarship at Universidad Iberoamericana. He enjoys learning new languages; Lucas is fluent in German and received the MSA Certificate in Berlin, he also completed the DELF B1 French Diploma.
